Since 1966, when the
National Safety Highway Traffic Administration was
established, there have been more than 390 million
recalls by all
manufacturers.
A
recent article on
CNN.com* tells readers, "Sudden unintended
acceleration is not a problem limited to Toyota.
Many car manufacturers, including the other
four with the largest shares of the U.S. market,
have had to recall vehicles because of this
issue." The top five car manufacturers in
the United States are General Motors, Toyota,
Ford, Honda and Chrysler. NHTSA has
investigated numerous consumer complaints about
sudden unintended acceleration in cars made by the
top five brands in more than one of its models.
Each manufacturer has had to recall their
vehicles to fix various conditions. Sudden
unintended acceleration problems have also led to
recalls for vehicles made bi Nissan, BMW,
Volkswagen, Mitsubishi, Subaru, Mercedes-Benz,
Kia, Mazda, Land Rover, Suzuki and
Volvo.
Jack Fitzgerald
opened his first dealership in 1966. "In my
experience, I am not aware of recall vehicles
suffering dramatic loss of resale value in the
long term. I absolutely do not believe that
the long-term value of your Toyota has been
diminished. The media has hyped the recent
recall issues," states Mr.
Fitzgerald.
Don't sell your car
for less, simply because of the recall. We
believe you will get the full value if your are
patient.
