May 7, 2019 (Washington, D.C.) - Fitzgerald Auto Mall – Gaithersburg Genesis, Hyundai, Subaru, Toyota will be hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony for the launch of the largest Solar Roof Array used for an auto dealer east of the Mississippi on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at 10 a.m. (EST).
The Fitzgerald Solar Array has 2,435 panels, which covers approximately 45,168 square feet. Annually, this solar roof will generate 1,100,000 kWh (Kilowatt Hours), which is estimated to generate approximately 83% of the campus power.
To put this into perspective, an average house in Maryland uses about 1,200 kWh per month. The Fitzgerald Solar Roof Array will generate on average about 90,000+ kWh per month, or enough to power 75 homes per month in the area. The roof will make a tremendous positive impact on the environment, as it will save approximately 1,702,800 pounds of CO2 emissions, the same amount of energy a power plant produces. This would be the equivalent of planting 42,891 trees per year in order to offset those C02 emissions.
The Fitzgerald Solar Roof is the largest of any car dealer in the DMV and is believed to be the largest solar roof array east of the Mississippi. Please join our journey in going green by attending the ribbon cutting ceremony

In 1966, Jack Fitzgerald founded Fitzgerald's Colonial Dodge in North Bethesda, Maryland. From the beginning, the guiding principle of this new dealership was to provide exceptional value in the most comfortable, customer friendly sales and service environment possible. Today, Fitzgerald Auto Malls represents over twenty brands at Auto Mall locations in Maryland, Pennsylvania and Florida, where that same guiding principal continues. That's the #FitzWay!
